What If Iraq Insurgency Grows After United States Leaves?

We are gonna pull out of Iraq at the end of this year. What if Iraq falls back into chaos when we completely pull out? The Shiite majority takes over Iraq and starts killing the Sunni minority. Sunnis and Shiites start killing each other again. More bombings, kidnappings, beheadings, and more IEDs. There will not be any US troops inside of Iraq. Well, even if everyone in Iraq dies, at least they died under freedom. We will never reoccupy Iraq, unless they stop sending us oil.

same thing w/ Iraq. If they are unwilling/incapable of forming a stable society, then they’re just not going to have one. If everything goes to crap when we leave, about the best thing the rest of the world can do for those people is offer asylum to the ones w/ the good sense to get the eff out of dodge…
Sometimes you just have to let people decide their futures for themselves. The Soviet Union had a diminishing dictatorship for its whole existence, but the Russians found their way, and it was the troops in the last hard-line situation who said, “Russians will not kill Russians”
It is not about preventing loss of life or preserving freedom. It is about respecting the right of people to decide their own form of government. That is what “Sovereignty” means.
Definitely do not go back. Let them figure it out. They have a constitution that protects against the tyranny of the majority, and they have supportive Sunni an Shiite neighbors who don’t want Moslems killing Moslems.
The Bushies especially Condoleeza Rice, should have known that deposing Saddam would create a power vacuum in Iraq and would erupt into chaos and civil war – Cheney himself said so, after the first Gulf War. That was the main reason why the coalition didn’t go all the way to Baghdad after Saddam’s forces were kicked out of Kuwait. Somewhere along the line **** “Dick” Cheney changed his mind:
“Dick” was right the first time. Why was he wanting an invasion 20 years later? Oil. The GOP will be clamouring to send the troops back if the oil supply is disrupted – there’ll be aircraft carriers and ballistic missile submarines in the Gulf for years to come – just in case.

We are almost completely disengaged from Iraq now…
