Can you help me with specific examples that compare the U.S.’s involvement in the Iraq conflict to the U.S.’s involvement in the Cold War?
I’m trying to write a paper and need suggestions to back up the theory.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

In both of them the public opposed what ever actions were taken by the government without thought as of how they would be beneficial. The Vietnam War was disliked by many at home but now many praise it.
But it’s not like the cold war, The cold war is a war of words. Obviously we can’t come to any agreements without talking but the cold war was a series of negotiations with the threat of war looming between two superpowers. The Iraq war is a war with an organized country of trained fighters and a bunch of renegades in a powerstruggle willing to do anything to make sure their side wins. It’s more like having a Boxing or Martial Arts Champ (someone trained and conditioned with tacticts, technique and skill making clear deliberate movements to prepare for the disabling strike) and a Street Fighter who just comes out kicking screaming it’s just a mess. No real method he’s just hoping to get a lucky punch in and sometimes he does. It’s been a while but I don’t think I would ever compare this war to the Cold war – there are just no similarities.
hardly there wasn’t any armed confrontation in the cold war, except posturing to gain an advantage, without conflict
Major difference
Iraq = Hot
Cold War = Cold
this is opinion and not fact but that chances are 50+ years from now we will probably still have to have troops in iraq to keep peace just like in korea. i dont think it will ever be as simple as just pulling our troops out and never having to bother with iraq/korea again.
