How many kills does an ordinary soldier in Iraq get per year?
A.M. asked:
I guess it would vary depending on circumstances, but does anyone know the median amount of kills a soldier gets in Iraq per year? Do you have any reasonable estimates?
Just curious.

There are a whole lot of soldiers there, alot of whom don’t even see combat, so it’s probably 0.
The average soldier? Zero. Very few military personnel are actually pulling triggers and those that are aren’t killing too many folks right now.
not enough apparently. strictly my opinion…thats all folks
The public doesn’t know, the liberal media only reports on the US death toll; not vice versa.
Zero. Most Iraqi insurgent casualties are not caused by direct fire anyway. We sure detain some bad guys though.
not sure but friend was sent home with a honorable discharge. They said he is too much of a killer and fear he’s gonna snap one day. He is 6′3″ and strong as a ox, and the 1st one knocking down the doors in his attack squad. He has 44 comfirmed kills and some other one not sure of. All terrorist kills, no friendly kills or iraq ppl. I said he was just doing his job and protection everyone else out there. They made him to be the best, so he gonna be the best.
we cant count kills like that anymore or the UN gets mad…
and we dont have to…
The bombs know their targets now and a professional military knows who it really wants dead…
The wholesale slaughter that has accompanied nearly every other major military conflict of the last 500 years has not occured here.
I know bad things happened and are happening in Iraq but bad things happen in Little Rock.
If this war wouldve been fought by a less ethical or less skilled Military thered be no sunnis or shiites left to argue about it.
Think about it. If hilter had the power America has now, most of the Arab world would be dead or bowin to him instead of Mohammed and Allah.
so Id say an average of maybe .075 a kill per person in the military per day or two and thats a guess…
its probably much much lower.
In a firefight… the enemy loses about 20 to 1.
In a prolonged engagement, like Fallujah…. the enemy loses upwards of 50 to 1.
In bombings, the enemy loses closer to 2-3 to 1.
But I don’t believe killing US troops is the primary objective. I believe the enemy’s primary objective is dual. He wants to show the world that he can do it. He wants to sow the seeds of terror among the Iraqi people… and the rest of the people in the world. With that loss ration he must know he can’t win a military victory. His only prayer is to outlast us. If we pull out before Iraq can protect itself, the enemy will claim a victory, notwithstanding the US people gave it to him.
I quit going to parties. Donkeys, when they found out what I did, almost always asked, “How many people did you kill?” I would have liked to have replied, “Apparently not enough.” But I didn’t. I just walked away. Eventually I quit going.
Soldiers, at least the sane ones, don’t carve notches on their weapons. The numbers of kills is not a status symbol. You don’t get a medal for killing people. You don’t get promotions. It doesn’t make you feel good killing people.
If you’re talking to him live, face to face, the answer is, “as many as tried to kill me.”
I have a buddy who only said, “I’m 9 and 0 for firefights.” One in the loss column, and you don’t come back.
Get yourself some “couth. Please don’t ask questions to which you really have no need of an answer… other than morbid curiosity.

why don’t you enlist, get on a plane and find out. Really show some sensitivy. These guys are humans, the people they may or may not have had to kill were humans, it’s not an easy thing to do. It is in no way polite or mannerly to ask those sort of questions. Grow up.
Zero!
the kill is an exception for most soldiers there and I doubt if they keep records for public use.
Every soldier in the military is a gung-ho killing machine, when not peeling spuds, washing dishes, cleaning his kit,
